Serving - Why I do, and why you should.
I’ve got a heart for serving, in 2008 i started helping at a Kids ministry program, man I loved it, and got so dedicated to it, weekly it would be my inspiration. I gained a heart for serving.
In my eyes I see serving as a moment, a hour in life that I can forget whats happening around me, what’s going on with friends, with boys. With insecurities, problems and worries. I take a step out of my busy life to serve, to be in Gods presence, to help the community, to discover my surroundings, my potential, and to serve for the love of God. I not only serve in Church situations, I serve for Guiding, beach and park clean ups. I have so far served in Children’s ministries for 5 years, helped in the moving of the church, with the opening of the church, with registration and prep for Easter camp. I love to be involved, included, busy but mainly I love to serve. I was asked what drives me to serve, and on the spot I couldn’t answer it, He said not many people give up there time to serve. For a church to be a successful church in serving Gods people, the church needs volunteers, the church needs people to serve.
I’m just lucky that I always find spare time to serve. If i’m honest about my relationship with God, its rocky, but its strong, and the way that I connect to God is through serving. Is through good wills, it is through other people.
You don’t understand what you are doing until someone points it out. A parent from a kids ministry program I help at, once said that she doesn’t believe her children would have such a strong faith if it wasn’t for this program. They were not able to make it to there church on a Sunday often, but during the week they got excited about Fridays, about the program. To think that their kids may not have learnt most the stuff they know if it wasn’t for TGIF over the last 3 years.
I believe that every person has a heart for serving, and you may be shy, scared or worried but serving is one of the most rewarding forms of worship. At least that’s what I believe. Give serving a go!
Give me a job, give me a chance, give me a place, and i’ll serve for you Lord.
